FIV is an incurable viral infection that can weaken a cat’s immune system. She is currently asymptomatic and requires no special care. There is a chance however, that the virus progresses over the years, causing secondary infections. Typically, FIV+ cats live similar lifespans to FIV- cats.
FIV is not contagious to humans or dogs. The virus is only transferable to other cats via deep bite wounds. Because of this, it is important for FIV+ cats to live indoors only and be properly introduced to other household kitties to ensure the virus isn’t spread. Otherwise, if these measures can’t be taken, it is advised that she lives in an only cat household or one with another FIV+ cat.

About: Maisie is a very sweet, cuddly and outgoing girl. She loves relaxing on her cat beds, jumping in your lap for cuddles and looking out windows. She does well with dogs if properly introduced. She would also do good with children. She does well with other cats but please note her above health status. Proper cat introductions will need to be strictly followed. She would make a great addition to any household!
Came into rescue: Maisie came to us as a stray with her babies Pixie, Moxie, Rudie and Evie (Pixie & Moxie also adoptable). They were found huddled together trying to keep warm in a winter storm. They had also been trying to get into different neighborhood homes for warmth, but nobody let them in. We are so glad we were able to save them!
